It’s Up2U
Excitement is growing in St. Peter’s ward of Ashton-under-Lyne as the countdown to It’s Up2U continues!
Following the closing date for applications to bid for a share of the available £35,000 which has been made available by a number of partners as well as through the Council, nineteen proposals have been shortlisted and now it’s down to local people to decide ‘Who gets the cash’.
Ward Councillor Jack Davis explained: “Tameside Council in conjunction with St. Peter’s Partnerships have organised this event to allow local ward residents to decide on their own priorities and what this money should be spent on.
"We invited anyone with an idea on how to improve St. Peter’s ward in order to make it a better place to live in to come forward with their ideas and we have been really pleased with the quantity and quality of proposals.
“There is everything from requests for equipment for groups to funding for events aimed at people of all ages and as last year, it is down to local residents which proposals will be successful.
Any local resident over 13 years of age is eligible to vote at the event which will take place at Oxford Park sports hall on Saturday 13th March. Voters will need to register and can do so from 12 noon. They will receive free refreshments and also free entry into a grand raffle.
From 1pm, all the applicants will make short presentations to the audience in order to secure local residents votes and the proposals with the highest number of votes will share the money.
There will also be a free family fun day in the Park from 11 am with the police and fire service in attendance as well as a climbing wall for the brave to try out and organised sports events for everyone.
