How old do you have to be to take part in the activities you run?

We run a wide range of activities for children and young people aged 5-19 and also for those young people up to the age of 25 years and not in employment, education or training (NEET). Some of our activities are for children aged 5-12, and some are for children aged 12-19. FAST club and our sports camps are only open to 8-12 year olds though.

Do you need to book to attend activities?

You only need to book a place if you want to come on one of our trips out or weekend ‘residentials’. For all other activities, just come along. We do ask that all children and young people who take part in our activities complete a short ‘membership’ form the first time they come though. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to sign the membership form.

Do I need to become a SPY member to take part in your activities?

    • All activities have an appropriate ratio of staff to children

    • All staff and volunteers are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked

    • All staff and volunteers follow health and safety procedures

    • All children and young people taking part in our activities complete a membership form which includes details of any medical conditions, medication and emergency contact details

    • SPY has an appropriate level of public liability insurance of no less than £5 million

    • The parent or guardian’s consent is sought for all trips out

    • The children and young people taking part in our activities agree a behaviour code before the session starts

    • SPY has a formal complaints procedure which can be used if required

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY FORM OF BULLYING

If you or someone you know is being bullied, please contact any of our members of staff, who will listen and support you with whatever action you decide to take. SPY has a formal complaints procedure which can be used if required.
