Tameside Armed Forces Day celebrations will take place in Victoria Park, Denton on Saturday 26 June 2010 from 1.00pm - 4.00pm. The day will be an opportunity to show your support for the contribution made by all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and St. Peter’s Youth will be there to show their support. A short parade led by Adamson Military Band will depart at 1.00pm from Denton Town Hall and will make its way through Victoria Park to the park’s war memorial where a short service will be held. During the afternoon there will be performances from the bandstand including the Adamson Military Band, War-time tribute singer Heather Marie, Rat pack tribute singer Frank Forde and Falklands veterans Andy Farrell and Darren Poyzer who will bring to the event a dramatic performance of poetry and song. There will be a variety of other free activities available including an opportunity to have-a-go on the brand new SPY mobile climbing wall. There will also be face painting, clay modelling and craft activities with displays and demonstrations from The First World War Manchester Regiment Living History Group. Members of the Royal British Legion, local Scouts, Cubs and Girl Guides will also be present on the day. Refreshments will be available during the afternoon from Victoria Park Community Centre.
